Levels: Undergraduate Newport Campus Campus Lecture Schedule Type Learning Objectives: This course is designed to increase students competence in expressing themselves, especially in expository and persuasive writing. The primary purpose of the course is to enable students to write fluently, accurately, and effectively. Required Materials: Kennedy, X. J., Dorothy M. Kennedy, and Sylvia A. Holladay, The Bedford Guide for College Writers, Seventh Edition 2005. Writing Journal Technical Requirements: Five to six assigned essays, all of which will be word-processed using the MLA style. Length will be determined by the nature of each (30%) Class attendance (10%) , Successful completion of an ongoing writing journal (10%) Successful completion of assignments, drafts and tests in various aspects of the writing process, usage, punctuation, etc. (30%); Student portfolio (10%) Final examination and/or essay to be completed for/during the last class session (10%) View Catalog Entry
