Learning Objectives: This course is designed to increase studentsÂ’ competence in expressing themselves, especially in expository and persuasive writing. The primary purpose of the course is to enable students to write paragraphs fluently, accurately, and effectively and, finally, to give students an ability to combine paragraphs in a developed non-fiction essay.
Required Materials: Langan, John, English Skills with Readings (Sixth Edition), McGraw-Hill Inc., New York, 2006. (Please note: This is not the same text used in most sections of English 1005) a writing journal
Technical Requirements: - Five to six paragraphs (30%) - Class attendance (10%) , - Successful completion of an ongoing writing journal (10%) - Successful completion of assignments and tests in various aspects of the writing process, usage, punctuation, etc. (30%) - A midterm examination (10%) - A final examination and essay to be completed for/during the last class session (10%).
